Faikah Bruce, MSc
Training Coordinator
Faikah is the Training Coordinator at SACEMA. Prior to joining SACEMA, Faikah obtained her BSc and BSc Hon in Applied Mathematics at Nelson Mandela University, Port Elizabeth, South Africa in 2008. She continued her studies to obtain a postgraduate diploma in Mathematical Sciences from the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) – South Africa in 2010. Faikah then joined SACEMA as an MSc student and upon completion of her MSc in 2013, she continued to pursue her PhD studies at Stellenbosch University, still with SACEMA. She served as mentor and workshop faculty for the MMED workshop (2015, 2016, 2018), that forms part of the International Clinics on Infectious Disease Dynamics and Data (ICI3D) Program, as well as the ICI3D Program Assistant in 2018. She is currently the course evaluator for the program. Her research focuses on the development and use of mathematical models to characterize, understand, and eventually to manage the epidemic of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections in South Africa. Faikah also a member of the secretariat of the UNAIDS Reference Group on Estimates, Modelling, and Projections (epidem.org).
