Lauren Brown, MSc

Junior Researcher

Lauren Brown is a Junior Researcher at SACEMA. She completed her BSc, and BSc Hons, in Mathematics (Biomathematics) at Stellenbosch University. Lauren holds an MSc in Applied Mathematics, focusing on interventions to reduce Tuberculosis burden in South Africa through mathematical modelling. She will be continuing her TB modelling journey by starting her PhD with Dr Cari van Schalkwyk and Dr Leigh Johnson in 2024. Lauren is the coordinator for SACEMA’s first Policy Modelling Fellowship which has the goal to increase modelling capacity in Southern Africa through a Poliovirus transmission modelling project. She is also a member of SMART (SACEMA’s Modelling and Analytics Response Team), the team that has developed the Poliovirus transmission model and immunity estimation being used in the Fellowship.
